This is 64 bit and it is perfect for upgrading from WinXP or fresh installing on a legacy computer. I get that you have a kink for Windows Vista, but I highly doubt it needs to be praised using a poorly covered version of Bohemian Rhapsody In regards to Vista, it's fine. Can Someone Tell Me? Reviewer: Aerialflame - favorite favorite favorite favorite favorite - December 22, Subject: no Yeah, yeah Ayo, windows vista, it's time.

It's time, windows vista aight, windows vista, begin. Straight out the windows vista dungeons of rap. The rap drops deep as does my friend. I never windows vista, 'cause to windows vista is the windows vista of lend. Beyond the walls of windows vista, life is defined. I think of windows vista when I'm in a windows vista state of mind. Hope the amend got some trend. However, I realized that most people have probably never used it or are just hating on MS. I understand an older computer will have a hard time running the OS, but the user is able to turn off Aero and have a setup similar to XP.

I also don't know what the guy is talking about SP1 being 5 gigs. It's around a MB compressed download. There are currently 34 language packs at around MB each, but why would you install all of those? Pros: 64 bit platform. Overall Review: If you are hesitant about going 64bit because of a few programs, you may be surprised that they will probably still work. When this version is installed it creates 2 Program Files folders. One for 64bit programs, and another for x86 compatible programs.

So take that jump. Pros: If you are reading this, then hopefully you already know that vista is and isn't for some people. You gotta have a decent computer, if you plan on running the Aero theme. Vista is solid in the time that I've used it. The Aero theme is just downright sexy. As someone said before, just like when XP came out, everyone hated it, but now everyone prefers it.

Give Microsoft some time to release a service pack and then the OS becomes a dream. Driver compatibilities are getting better, I plugged in all my devices and everything was auto-detected and worked right off the bat. I had to update several to the newest version, but no big deal. Be sure you get a decent computer if you plan on using Vista at all. Installation process was easier than XP as well.

I want to see how much it's done! Not a 'This process could take a minutes to a few hours. This is not really a con, more over caution for stupidity, but Vista does a performance check on your computers components during the installation process. A hard reboot is necessary. Most of the time everything is fine, but don't risk it, and just OC after vista is happy on your HDD.

Overall Review: Honestly, Vista is great, there are some great new features and the Aero theme is smooth. Ultimate comes with several extras that are probably unnecessary. I heard Business edition is just like Ultimate, all the networking options, but without all the extra junk.

Home Premium is very good too. Apparently Ultimate is overkill for most people and really doesn't have much to offer for the larger price tag. Get Ultimate if you got lots of cash lying around, other wise Home Premium or Business is just as good.

Prob would have made a better selling companion product and improved Vista sales had they just left it alone. Does anyone use UAC? And why is it still a default setting? Most of the gaming I do is limited to solitaire although the original Doom was pretty habit forming , but from biz perspective Vista has some nice admin and user features, and feels very solid.

I don't have Win server installed yet so I can't comment on that integration. Only prog that I've had probs installing in 64 bit has been Google desktop. Go figure? Pros: Easy install, works smoothly when optimized, very few if any issues less than XP Pro. With SP-1, this OS really shines - few if any of the old problem still exist.

This is the only way to make use of more than 3. Cons: System requirements to run this are higher than a three-year-old computer from Wal-mart. This is a bit OS. There may be some mobo issues until you've updated all your bit drivers. Overall Review: I used Vista32 for a bit on release, but was not impressed. I believe the people having issues with this OS are not having problems with the OS, but incompatible or bad hardware.

With the recent update in bit drivers, this works fantabulously well, actually. Better than XP Pro. I think the naysayers are on Walmart computers or just don't like change - I certainly like the new OS been computing since ' VIsta is stable, and fast. Older software support is sometimes an issue, but in my case, I don't have a need for any software that is not functional on Vista. I would love full retail version so I can legally move my copy from one machine to another, but I install sticker on case and replace parts as needed ;.

You are only suppose to install on a single PC, and the license stays with the PC. Windows 7 is just around the corner. Haven't used it yet, but folks are saying better things about it than Vista Pros: 1.

Uses system resources often confused with being a resource hog 2. Aero is great 3. FAST 4. Intuitive, thoughtful UI design 5. Install was a breeze Detected ALL my hardware out of the box, no additional drivers needed to get it running 6.

I actually like UAC 7. The new integrated Windows Update 8. Very Polished feel 9. Stable - Way more stable than XP was at this point in its life. Cons: 1. Service Pack 2 will be out later this year or early next year Windows 7 2.

The Ultimate Extras aren't all that cool 3. IE bit doesn't launch by default - uses bit due to the bit ActiveX controls probably. Overall Review: Don't believe the negative advertising. After using Vista on semi-recent hardware, it's actually enjoyable to use a pc again. Vista makes XP look like an amateur OS.

Read reviews to find out what to look out for before installing. Investigate your investment, don't rely on your knowledge of the way things worked in Windows 3. Vista is a revolution more than an evolution.
